Living Discipleship

This thirteen-week course has been taught to over 1,000,000 people nationwide. All the basics of the Christian faith are covered: the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, Holy Baptism, Holy Communion, etc. Many other subjects are covered as well. The basic textbook for the course is the Bible itself.

This course serves a variety of purposes:  as an introduction to non-Christians concerning the Christian faith, as a new members class for those who wish to formally join as members of Trinity, for baptized members of the congregation age 16 and older who (for whatever reason) were never confirmed, as a refresher course for "seasoned" members, and for people who are just curious about the Lutheran Christian perspective.

Class sessions last 90 minutes.  This course is offered several times a year and is taught by the Pastor.   For more information, a schedule for the next class, or to register, please call the church office at 724-846-0544.

Thursday Evening Adult Bible Study:  The Gospel of Matthew

The Thursday Evening Adult Bible Study meets in the Social Room located on the main floor of the church on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 PM.  A joint effort of Trinity and Christ Episcopal Church, classes are taught by Pastor Henry and the Rev. Langdon Pegram, M.D., Priest-in-Charge of Christ Episcopal.

During the 2009-2010 school year, the class will study The Gospel of Matthew.  The emphasis of this course is on the textual study of Matthew verse-by-verse, section-by-section.

The course is organized around the Five Groups of Words and Deeds of Jesus as the outline of the book.  The subjects covered include:  The Old Testament background of Matthew, the structure and outline of the book itself as a clue to its theology, Jesus as the New Israel, the significance of angels, the Sermon on the Mount, the real meaning of discipleship, Christian obedience, Jesus and the Law, the secrets of the Kingdom revealed in parables, mountains as places of special revelation, living in the fellowship of the forgiven, the Great Commission and the blessings of baptism, the endtime and its sign, the passion narrative, the Lord's Supper as Old Testament fulfillment, the resurrection, and much more.

New members are always welcome to join us on Thursday evenings for fellowship, prayer, and lively discussion of the Word of God!
